Barcelona
SMART CITIES: CONNECTED BY TRUST. BUILT FOR RESILIENCE.
TeamNL goes Barcelona 2025
From Tuesday, November 4 to Thursday, November 6, Barcelona will once again host Smart City Expo World Congress. And once again, a substantial delegation from the Netherlands will travel to the Catalan capital, including a large number of DMI participants.
Smart City Expo World Congress is the world's leading smartcity event. Every year, tens of thousands of visitors from around the world (and especially from Europe) travel to Barcelona in early November for this special event.
And the Dutch are looking forward to meeting you there! Our country offers a unique blend of innovation, pragmatism and collaboration. With decades of experience in urban planning, water management, ecology and digitale infrastructure, the Dutch are recognized leaders in smart mobility, data sharing and digital twin technology.
Our track record includes national digital systems like ITS, the public transport card, basic registries and the Dutch Digital Twin architecture: all founded on interoperability, quality and openness.

Narrative
A substantial delegation of public and private representatives will be present in Barcelona. And we look forward to seeing you there and tell you all about the Dutch approach. About our knowledge and experience, our innovations and solutions, our way of working together.
Smart Cities: Connected by Trust. Built for Resilience.
In The Netherlands, cities are built with trust as the true infrastructure.
Through strong public-private collaboration and a secure governance framework, we enable large-scale, trusted data sharing that helps cities become drivers of change- creating scalable, interoperable solutions for housing, mobility, climate, energy and urban life. Pragmatic. Integrated. Human-centred. That's how the Dutch shape resilient, future-ready cities.
Matchmaking
To enhance the matchmaking process, we have prepared an English-language overview of everyone who will be traveling with us to Barcelona: who are you, what does your organisation do, what is your role and who would you like to be in contact with during Smart City Expo 2025?
dmi centre on site
On Monday, November 3, we will have a "DMI Centre pop-up": similar to our joint meeting and gathering place in Amersfoort, but a little different. In the19thHole in the heart of Barcelona we offer DMI participants the opportunity to (net)work and organize a number of strategic sessions with international stakeholders.
JOINT PROGRAM DMI and BABLE Smart Cities
At the same location, we will host an all-day content program on Monday together with the BABLE network: Urban Impact Lab - The Urgency Edition.
"Powered by BABLE and the Dutch Metropolitan Innovations (DMI) Ecosystem, this high-level, hands-on forum unites urban leaders and innovators to co-create bold, practical solutions for today's most urgent city challenges."
A special program with surprising and especially interactive components, to which professionals from all over the world are cordially invited. Please note: registration for the Urban Impact Lab can be done via the registration form (for the Dutch delegation), the number of places is limited.
Monday's program for both the DMI Center and the Urban Impact Lab can be found here.
DMI diner
Monday evening, starting at 8 p.m. at Nuara restaurant, there will be a diner for all DMI participants attending in Barcelona.
teamnl/dmi at the fair
We look forward to welcoming you at the Dutch pavilion: D71, hall 3. With all the presentations by public and private partners, we focus on the topics that are also at the centre of the Smart City Expo this year: Climate and Energy, Mobility, Living and Inclusion, Infrastructure and Building, and Enabling Technologies.
Please join us for the official opening of the Dutch pavilion on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.: Dutch Drinks are served!
Of course, we welcome international delegations at our Dutch pavilion and we are also preparing visits to other countries and companies ourselves, e.g. on AI and its value for smart city development. The program is in full swing: here you will always find the most up-to-date program for the Dutch Pavilion.
We also organise dedicated sessions in our own meeting room on Tuesday and Wednesday. These sessions are included in the program, for which you can use the link above.
